2 GENERALLY SPEAKING
-------------------------------------

**Item 1**
When? What time?
You can't always tell when a web page was updated. If you really want to know, all you have to do is: Open your JavaScript-enabled Web browser and type the following on the Address line:

javascript:alert(document.lastModified)

Press Enter, and a dialog box should pop up with the time & date of the last page modification.

**Item 2**
Cookies anyone?
If your, uncomfortable with cookies there is a much more effective thing to do rather than turning cookies off in your browser. Simply make the file, which records the information Read Only. This means you will still be able to use sites, which require cookies as browsers always hold the information in memory until the browser is shut down - but the information never gets stored on your computer.

------------------------------------
3 ASK ME A QUESTION
------------------------------------

If you need some information about a particular subject and don't know where to find the resources I may be able to help. Ask me a question and I will do my best to find the information for you. My aim is to complete the request within a week though there are no guarantees. To ask your question send an email addressed to: QUESTIONS@accessfp.net

If you have a FrontPage Question these are best asked on the AccessFP List where I and other members will attempt to help you.

Please can you explain about include pages?

You can display an HTML page on another page in the web, allowing you to maintain separate pages. For example, to display a copyright notice on several pages in a web, create one page that contains the copyright notice, and include that page on other pages in the web. When you update the copyright notice, you simply update that one page; all other pages that include the copyright page will be automatically updated.

Note: This feature only works for pages in a web.

In Page view, place your cursor where you want to include a page.
Note: Once inserted the include page will spread across the page your working on, so for more control you might want to use a table with no borders.
Insert | Component | Insert Page.
In the 'Page to include box', type the relative URL of the page to include, or click Browse to find the file.

Shared borders, which are a part of FrontPage and are essentially include pages, can only be used on the top, bottom, left and right hand sides of a page. Whereas an include page can be placed anywhere, working in conjunction with a table it is possible to have much more control and save an enormous amount of time in updating certain repeated features of your site.
For more information on automated Content insert one of the below into FrontPage Help and click Search.
1. Schedule a page or picture to appear on another page
2. Display a variable on a page

How-To Auto Start the Personal Web Server by Kenneth C. Denson

Introduction
------------

The Personal Web Server (PWS) is a free tool provided by Microsoft for Windows 95/98/Me and NT workstation based computers. It is a great cost saving tool that has proven ideal for intranets, homes, schools, small business workgroups and anyone who wants to set up a personal Web server. Because of its widespread use throughout the world, many users of the Personal Web Server have asked the following question:

"After installing PWS on my machine, it does not appear in the task tray."

Although a rare occurrence, it does happen. The most common cause is due to an incorrect installation. Corrupt installations most often occur when other programs are left running during the install process. Users of FrontPage are
also reminded to uninstall FrontPage before installing the Personal Web Server.

PWS Tip
---------
In those instances where everything is done correctly and PWS does not appear in the task tray, the following tip is offered for Windows 98 and Windows 98SE machines only.

1. Using Notepad or other plain text editor, open a blank page and type the following text:

REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\
CurrentVersion\Run]"ICSMGR"="ICSMGR.EXE""PWSTray"="PwsTray.exe"

2. Save the file as PWS-Start.reg (be sure it has the ".reg" extension)

3. Double-click the file you just created. You'll be asked by Windows "Are you sure you want to add the information to the registry?".

4. Click YES.

5. Reboot your computer and PWS should appear in your task tray. Delete the file you created above.

7 WEEKLY LINKS AND RESOURCES
-------------------------------------

****General Links****

TaFWeb Whois
http://www.tafweb.com/whois.html
Latest Version: 1.0a.
With the advent of country codes, finding out who owns a particular domain name has become quite tricky. In fact for some countries it's next to impossible. Normally programs such as TaFWeb Whois rely upon a service provided by the various domain name registrars called a "whois" service (hence the name of the software). While this is usually the most efficient way of getting the information, not all country code registrars provide this service. In many cases, however, they do provide a web-based service. TaFWeb Whois is unusual in combining both methods of getting the required information. Where a "whois" server is available it will use it. Where it isn't, and a web-based service is provided, it will use that. TaFWeb Whois is probably the most comprehensive "whois" tool available at present. It can, of course, also handle IP numbers as well as domain names.

The services provided by the country code registrars is changing all the time so TaFWeb Whois is able to update itself automatically from our web site where we will make available any changes which we can find. In this way TaFWeb Whois should remain up-to-date.
