A Tribute to Paul Vineburg
by Teri Carnright
Paul Vineburg was what many “old-timers” in the FrontPage industry call “the father of FrontPage design.” He had a clear vision of what FrontPage “could be”, and fully intended for the FrontPage user
world to be able to take advantage of the possibilities. Developing intense, unique, and full-featured templates, Paul introduced to the webmaster world a totally new, totally breathtaking set of tools, now *well-known* simply as
“FrontPage templates”, that changed the face of FrontPage design.
The wonderfully unique thing about Paul was his overwhelming drive to help others. The list of Paul’s friends and followers is endless; he supported not only customers, but developers. AND, he not only SUPPORTED developers, he
painstakingly held their hands, guided, and trained them to produce and compile templates for FrontPage.
His repertoire goes further, though, as Paul also worked with programmers to develop tools to assist designers in getting templates to market.
Any developer or designer working in “so-called” competition with Paul during his days will tell you that they were NEVER in competition with Paul – and Paul himself would applaud the efforts and successes of all his mentors.
Paul remains in the minds and hearts of many designers, developers, and webmasters, and will continue to do so for many, many years, as he was an absolute artist and master at his trade, with a heart of gold and a driving
ambition to help others.
